Kester 979 is a completely new, organic, no-clean flux formulation for high quality, low-defect soldering of electronic circuit board assemblies. Its chemistry is free of any volatile organic compounds (VOCs), solvents that may react photochemically to form air pollution (smog). This flux's finely tuned activation system offers the best wetting available in VOC-Free liquid flux technology and the shiniest solder joints. Kester 979 offers excellent soldering properties that lead to higher productivity without sacrificing reliability of the assembly. Kester 979 also reduces microsolderballing on glossy laminates and between connector pins. Classified as ORL0 per ANSI-J-STD-004, Kester 979 will not attack properly cured solder masks or FR-4 Epoxy-Glass laminate. After its use, the cosmetic appearance of the board's surface is excellent. For example, Kester 979 leaves no haze or visible residue behind, including the white powdery residue associated with use of earlier no-clean formulas.
Note: This is a repackaged product. To the best of our knowledge, Kester only offers its fluxes in one gallon or greater quantities, or in pen form which doesn't work particularly well for surface mount components.
